The Dutch Foundation of Urgent Needs (SUN Nederland), through local SUN emergency agencies, supports people with urgent financial needs.
Financial problems occur for many reasons. If people are unable to get (timely) support from their local authorities or other organisations their counsellor will be able to apply for assistance from a local SUN emergency agency. A SUN emergency agency can provide financial support in the form of a donation or an interest-free loan. If necessary within 24 hours. It is the goal of SUN Nederland (Dutch Foundation of Urgent Needs) to establish a national network of local agencies.
New perspectives
SUN emergency agencies would like to offer people a new perspective. For example, they can provide money to cover the household bills, medical bills or furniture costs. Or they might assist with job applications or an education by financing a passport or laptop. The emergency assistance service can also help prevent pending disconnection of utility services or home eviction. Support from a SUN emergency agency can prevent both personal hardship and social costs.
Support more people with a social loan
SUN emergency agencies offer interest free loans making repayment easier. Repayments will be returned to a revolving fund and subsequently be used to offer new loans to other beneficiaries.
Working together
A SUN emergency agency brings together local authorities, donors and counsellors. That is what makes SUN a successful format. In 2024 SUN Nederland will be celebrating its 110th anniversary.
